Planned Parenthood - Mission Bay Mimi Brien Center

I waited over an hour beyond my appointment time and was told my provider still had another patient ahead of me. Ended up walking out without being seen. I turned down another appointment at the same time with a reliable provider to take this appointment instead. They’ve lost me at least a week of time as I now I have to schedule with a different provider. And they had no intention of telling me how long it was going to be, were just going to sit there and let me wait. I really couldn’t be more disappointed. This type of things has real effects on people’s lives. Just terrible.

Every time I’ve been here it’s been a bad experience— I’ve tried to give them grace because I know they have a lot on their plates but just super disappointing. I booked an appointment online and even though the scheduling portal confirmed I was booked, the receptionist said I didn’t have an appointment and offered nothing to accommodate me, especially given the inconvenience. When I asked if I could still be seen since I drove all the way over, she told me she would ask the practitioners and then told me 20 minutes later that I couldn’t be seen as a walk-in. Such a waste of time and they need to figure out their system because I literally was told online I had an appt! :( And the past times I’ve been here, the wait was 2+ hours to be seen even though I had an appointment. Do better.

Came here first thing in the morning, all the staff and the Doctor Sylvia were so nice . I felt so welcomed and comfortable . I love that they respect your privacy and are nice .

The best. Don’t let the reviews discourage you. The wait time was fine and appropriate. The nurses & doctor were amazing and so helpful. This center rocks!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.I would give 0 stars if I could, I have been here 3 times in the last few months. And though the service is good the wait time is terribleAt this point they should just stop giving out appointments. My appointments was at 2 and I got here 20 mins before and I didn’t get in for the next 2 hours !!!!!I had to keep asking multiple times what the hold up was. People who had appointments after me were called in before I was.. when I asked for a 3rd time the lady asked me if I wanted to cancel my appointment or reschedule because I wasn’t willing to wait any longer.And ofcourse I would understand if this was a one time thing. But this has happened all 3 times I was here. The only reason I chose this location was because it was nearest to me.But please don’t bother going to this location if you respect your time. Going to the father location would still make sense rather than just sitting in the waiting room forever.

I was a little hesitant to come here because of the reviews, but I honestly had such a great experience I had to leave a review! I made my appointment ahead of time for 7:50 am on a Saturday and I got there about ten minutes early with expectations to have a long wait. The check in process was super quick and they took me back a couple minutes before my appointment time. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, all said and done. Every single person I worked with was extremely friendly, kind, and helpful. The nurse answered all my questions and explained everything for me. A great experience all around!!

The white lady with glasses at the front desk is racist. She made comments about my way of speaking english, gave me a hard time cause i came 20 minutes early to appt even tho i was cool waiting, refused to check me in until 11am my appt time. Then made a comment about my appt being at 11 am but that i wont get seen until like 12because they were running late then whats the point of an appt? I don’t know if she was having a bad day but she had a nasty attitude made me feel unwelcome. First time coming to this location and last time.

I would not recommend this location. I’m not sure what’s going on here but I had a check in time at 10:20. I got here at 10 to check in and they said they can only check me in 10 mins prior. I come right back and check in at 10:10. I am still sitting here waiting almost an hour later. Multiple people who checked in after me have gone back before me. They have only been open like 2 hours so I don’t understand how they are already so behind. They told me that the reason other people are getting called back before me is because there are other providers. This makes zero sense to me. This has happened to me a few other times I’ve come to this location.

I would not recommend this Planned Parenthood location which is sad to say because I have been here years ago and the service was very good. I came in for help on the 18th of Nov and ended up in the emergency room after my second visit which was on the 2nd of December, because the provider there didn’t give the right instruction on how to handle my situation. Once I got to the ER and talked to TWO obgyns there they told me the provider at PP should have never gave me the advice she gave me and instead should have did xyz. She showed no interest in my health during both visits. PP is supposed to be a safe space but she did not make me feel like it was a safe space at all and I feel as though that is what landed me in the emergency room. If anyone would like more clarification on my story feel free to contact me.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with this PP location. After dealing with a health concern, the staff was extremely patient, empathetic, and informative. Unfortunately, they dont take my insurance so I had to follow up at another unrelated location, and had a horrible experience, met with impatience and irritation from the staff. Because that experience was so terrible, I ended up calling this PP back to speak with a nurse, who offered me advice and again, provided clarity and patience. I appreciate this staff and all that they do!

This is the worst planned parenthood when it comes to waiting. My appoint was at 730 I arrived at 715 and waited in the lobby until after 730 when the nurse noticed myself and another girl were there. She seemed suprise the door was open. Then after checking in I receive a text notification that my appointment was moved to 8. 4 more people came and checked in for later a points then my 730 and all 4 were seen before I was even called back. It was a simple follow up. Usually the wait from your appointment time here is 2 hours. I can see why. They arent even on time for the first appointment of the day. As for the staff they NPs are lovely, very helpful and welcoming.

I scheduled an appointment for 2:20PM and waited for one hour and 30 minutes before I was seen by the doctor. Just to get a dang prescription written for my birth control! It took less than 5 minutes for the doctor to do that and she didnt even ask if I had any other questions or concerns she could help with like a good doctor does.. She seemed very nice but after having me wait so long and finally seeing me at 3:50 PM (10 minutes before their 4pm closing time) it seems she just wanted me out of there so she could get out too. Again, understandable but that doesnt mean they should dismiss us after making us wait for so long! I actually did have more questions and concerns but based on how the whole situation was going and her lack of concern, I decided I will just look for a different doctor. One that respects appointment times and takes the time to ask the patient if there is any other concerns or questions they can help answer.

I’m so frustrated with this location. I checked in and let them know I was a little early but I had an apt at 9:30 for the implant. The woman at the front desk said she needed to call my insurance and to take a seat in the mean time. Minutes go by and I see more people come in, be seen, and leave before me. It’s not till I over hear that the front desk lady is going to go on break but at that point im there for well over 45 minutes and she didn’t bother checking on me once. I see the ladies behind the desk glance over at me occasionally but just go back to what they’re doing so I finally get up and ask a different woman how much longer it will be, that I have been waiting for an hour. She comes back to tell me THEY DONT HAVE ANY IMPLANTS. WHAT?! not having implants isn’t the issue, the issue is the front desk woman didn’t bother looking to see what I was there for to begin with, didn’t bother checking up on me after 20, 30, 40 minutes before leaving for her break AND NO ONE ELSE BOTHERED TO ASK!! They would have just continued to let me waste my time!! I’m not sure what procedures have patients waiting 45 minutes but next time check on the only person sitting in your lobby for christ sake.

Walked in at 9:30 AM, walked out at 10:30 AM with a year supply of BCP, all tests ran in office and NO COST to me! Thank You to the whole staff and the quickness, efficiency and kind, caring nature of the doctor and nurse I met!1st time Ive ever been to a PP, as Ive always had health insurance until this year. I have been a long time donator and supporter of this organization and after this visit, I will be for many years to come!

The lost my records and all of my tests and when the coordinator Maria came in to speak to me, she was rude and unprofessional and behaved as if I had done something wrong.I inquired again , where are my records and tests results, and she responded they dont have any record of me ever being at the facility.She actually tried to intimidate me and went outside to the common area and began speaking about me to other nurses. I cant fathom how and or why someone who behaves unprofessionally was able to obtain this position? Isnt the patient coordinator supposed to be helpful, calm and kind to all of the patients?What kind of unprofessional clinic are they running ? They lose your results and treat their patients horrifically, I would not reccomend this faculty to anyone

Not a question but the provider / assistant kiara is one of the sweetest most kind nurses ever and she made sure i was okay through out my entire visit and i’m literally still here right now waiting for my lyft and i felt the need to literally let u guys know she was absolutely the sweetest!! i was having a bad day and her kindness today nearly made me cry

I was very happy with my nurse practitioner Katie! My nurse was very nice and answered all my questions. I did not wait long at all. Everyone was very nice and helpful.

Im from out of town and getting birth control pills has never been nearly as difficult as this place made it for me. I forgot my pills at home and needed a replacement as soon as possible but they didnt have any open appointments online for 3 more days. I made an appointment but when I got there they made me wait two hours for one pack of birth control pills. They also charged me $50 which is ridiculous because my hometown clinic has always given me 100% free service. Im shocked at how difficult planned parenthood makes receiving reproductive health services.

I am always treated amazingly here. The staff is always sweet and informative.

I had a 3pm appointment. Its 350 and Im still waiting. Asked the lady at the desk and she said about 30 more minutes. Why even make an appointment its beyond ridiculous! Update still waiting at 405. Over an hour for an appointment.

Expect long wait times. Today I waited for 1 hour to be seen after being told the wait is 25 minutes. There was no water or cups left in the waiting area. Stuff is not the friendliest either but that’s okay with me.

I don’t mind waiting for inexpensive healthcare but my only complaint is that all of the parking is 2 hour parking. Even with an appointment, it can take over 2 hours. What’s the point of free healthcare if you get an expensive parking ticket?

The front desk is very slow, and needs training, the center needs more staff working in the reception.After 52 minutes of waiting, I could not see the doctor with prior appointment. You are wasting government money.

This is my third time coming in for a scheduled appointment and they are running 45 minutes behind schedule. Seems to be a reoccurring problem with this location (pacific Beach in mission bay drive)

I should have listened to the reviews. Ive waited over a hour for a appointment that could have took 10 minutes.

Everyone at this location was kind and friendly. I had a very pleasant experience and got what I needed.
