When I started going to Laurel, LabCorp (contracted lab In their office) initially mislabeled or did not draw an NIPT. I was stressed about this given that I felt it may impact choices surrounding the pregnancy. I also felt a bit disappointed by the brief nature of the appointments and therefore lack of education of what to expect given that this was our first baby. I say this mostly to qualify/add strength to the next part of my review. I think it’s important you know that I am very honest in my reviews. At 32 weeks I had an additional growth scan because I had Covid in the second Tri. I thought and was told it was an abundance of caution and expected it to be completely normal after the easiest pregnancy of all time. Unfortunately they ended up finding babe was measuring very small and I had elevated cord Doppler flows. This necessitated a lot of extra monitoring and conversations about the potential directions pregnancy and delivery may go. In those next weeks we have gotten to know the staff at Laurel very well and I cannot recommend them enough. Brooke and Stephanie (US) are wonderful. Brooke is who initially did the growth scan which diagnosed the issue and her bedside manner is second to none. All of the doctors were great and competent. In particular Dr. Veazey, Moore, Gilmer and Anotono were incredibly kind, personable and patient with our questions. We felt so extremely supported and like they viewed us as people not just patients. All the nurses were great. When we actually made it to induction Dr. Gilmer was on call and put us at ease with her calming personality. Dr. Gaddy-Dubac from Asheville Women’s ended up being on call for coverage at delivery and was also wonderful. So thankful for everyone who helped us have a good outcome and a safe baby, and took such good care of us physically and emotionally along the way.
There are many doctors at Laurel. I’m sure some are great. However, Susan West is NOT among them. Please choose another. Terrible terrible experience that has had lasting impacts on my family and fostered a lack of trust. It’s been over two years and is still traumatizing and hindered any future preventive care appointments.
I am not a patient with this office but Dr. Gilmer was on call when I had my son. I had my son right after Helene. It was time for my baby to come out and my husband tells the nurse to get the doctor. We had never met this doctor before. The doctor before switching shifts came and introduced herself, Dr. Moore. Dr. Moore was very nice and friendly. Dr. Gilmer hours later never even checked on me. Anyways, so the doctor finally comes in the room and she is ON THE PHONE and continues to talk on the phone about scheduling for a good 10 mintues or more, while Im moaning in pain through contractions. Dr. Gilmer never even acknowledges our existence until she finally gets done with her phone call. She gets off and finally introduces herself and checks me. By this point its go time and she tells the nurses to get the room ready. I got in position and my son was delivered within 15 mintues if that. She delivered my son fine. I had a natural birth, no complications. The doctor coming in on the phone, staying on the phone, and not giving her patient her attention, let alone even acknowledging that I was right there in pain having to hear her conversation was ridiculous, rude, and unprofessional. The doctor should have checked on me at some point during the several hours after she came on call after dr. Moore. Also, she should have finished her phone call outside of the room and then came in and gave me her full attention and introduced herself. My husband and I couldnt believe Dr. Gilmers unprofessionaism and we were both very aggravated with her behavior and lack of respect for the situation and empathy for her patient.I also, had a bad review written for this practice from three years ago during my last pregnancy that must have been deleted. I am not happy with this practice and the behavior of this doctor. I would not recommend this practice.
DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE GOING TO MAKE SURE YOUR INSURANCE IS COVERED HERE!!! Went in for an annual appointment, they told me they took my insurance before I got there. After my visit, they kept sending me an astronomical bill for a routine checkup. They told me not to pay it bc it was coded wrong in the system. Then they proceeded to put me into collections. After 10 months of back and forth with multiple billing people, I finally decided to pay as if I was uninsured so it didn’t hurt my credit any more. What they ended up charging me was and is insane. I liked my doctor and the billing ladies were nice but after the year long billing headache, I won’t be going back.
I went to Laurels for my first pregnancy and was very happy with the care I received. The doctors, ultrasound techs and nurses are all very kind and professional. They always made me feel comfortable and well cared for. I had some complications during the end of my pregnancy which they handled wonderfully and always took the necessary steps to make sure my baby was okay. I had to be induced and the doctors so helpful in explaining the process and easing my nerves. Doctor Kaplon delivered my baby boy and I so appreciated her calm demeanor and kindness, she put me at ease and made sure my baby arrived safely even during some scary moments. I am so grateful to her and the practice for helping me throughout pregnancy and the birth of my sweet son.
Ive had a great experience with Laurel OBGYN throughout my pregnancy and delivery! I highly recommend joining their Centering groups if youre pregnant. You are placed in a group with folks who have due dates in the same month, and then you all have appointments and an educational session at a consistent time monthly (eventually biweekly during third trimester). You still have a one-on-one private appointment with an OBGYN at the beginning of each session, but then everyone meets in a conference room at Laurel and learns about a relevant topic with an OBGYN: from understanding normal pregnancy discomforts to learning about the stages of labor to thinking about birth control options post-delivery. It was a great way to meet other expecting parents and learn all about the pregnancy and delivery experience in a supportive environment. My group has been having meetups postpartum, and its really nice to already have this built-in community! Shoutout to Dr. Moore and Andrea for being so awesome!
If I could give them 0 stars I would, they don’t care about you or your pregnancy they only care about getting paid. Called to be seen as an emergency, was told the Dr would call me back haven’t heard from in anyone in 2.5 hours. Mind you have been seeing them since I was 15 and have nothing but bad experiences for years
I became a patient at Laurel after my past OBGYN announced she was retiring. I specifically called ahead of time to make sure any doctor they would put with acknowledged my health history (mold illness that has completely destroyed my health and lifestyle). Not that they needed to understand it to treat that area of my health, but they needed to understand how much it has affected me and every bodily system, and not pretend it doesnt exist (quite common with mold in the medical world). I was placed with Dr. West, who largely ignored my health history and downplayed my health and told me to take a vitamin...like that would fix the diseases I now have from an apartment that killed my pets and nearly me SO many times and has caused horrible chronic illnesses and frequent anaphylaxis...I then called in a while after my appointment when I suddenly had severe pain, and was told it sounded like a cyst rupture and to wait it out. I ended up in the hospital later that week 3 times for my chronic health issues, and contacted Laurel because I was still having the uterine pain. Dr. West then said that because they didnt see fluid on the ultrasound many days after my call to them, that it wasnt a gyno issue and literally refused to see me, even with pain still present.Fastforward many months, and Im still having incredible pain and need to have an annual. I call Laurel to ask to see a new doctor, and was scheduled with Dr. Veazey. I did like her, but instead of doing a full workup (like scans), I was sent to pelvic PT, where I ended up spending thousands of dollars. It still wasnt helping many months in, then I got the exact same intense pain (like a do I go to the hospital pain), and went to Laurel, who did an ultrasound and found that I had a massive cyst rupture and had a fibroid. Additionally, there were 3 people in the waiting room with my first name. The nurse didnt confirm my last name and brought me back, then described why I was in, and clearly was not talking about my case. I told her she wasnt describing why I was there and she then said, oh that makes sense -- that would have been a huge weight gain and laughed to someone who, like many, has had eating disorders, and actually was at my normal healthy weight for the first time since gaining considerable inflammation weight for health reasons years prior... It was a very traumatic experience all around, and I left completely defeated and frankly in shock.I couldnt explain why none of this was checked for before when I had textbook symptoms for over a year, as this should have been caught much sooner, instead of wasting a huge amount of my money and prolonging the issue without any treatment. I reached out to Laurel to express that I was concerned that there wasnt a better workup before just sending me to pt, and they literally sent me a letter in the mail terminating me as a patient, for trying to have an open conversation about patient care and advocating for myself. Ive recently found an obgyn elsewhere I absolutely love, and am very thankful for her advocacy and treatment, which Laurel severely lacks.
Updated after second visit:I had my second visit with Dr. McArthur by telehealth. I have to say, she left me nearly in tears this time (the best kind of tears). I had some concerns but wanted to to try non-standard treatments. Dr. McArthur was incredible. She was patient and interested in not only my concerns, but my protests, too. She was incredibly gracious and actually listened to me very well. She worked with me on a plan that works best with my situation and my budget.Being heard and cooperated with are really important to patients, but not always to providers. Dr. McArthur seemed more than happy to HEAR me and to see that I have appropriate care. She has earned my highest recommendation! I will recommend her to my own family and that is the absolute highest praise I have to offer.I returned to Laurel after moving back to Asheville. I saw Dr. McArthur and am very happy with both her and the other staff members who worked with me at this visit. Dr. McArthur and her nurse made me feel welcome and at ease. I was given plenty of space and encouragement to ask questions and to express my concerns. Their questions were relevant and helped guide the appointment and suggestions for my care.My first impression with my return after 20 years is very positive.
Great experience here. Chose this provider because I wanted a tubal ligation / removal, and had heard good things from other patients who got theirs done through Laurel. Was prepared to have to fight for it since I’m under 30, but they made it so easy and it was so much less stressful than I anticipated. Doctor Andreas is new to the practice but he has been fantastic.
IMO: this place is for the rich only! They charge astronomical fees! They also say one thing and do another. I was told over the phone that I could do an exam and get bc the same day, but nope not when I got in there. I called three places so I could do this the same day and not waste time from work. They said they could do it but lied just to get me in the door. Then they charged me an arm and a leg even with insurance. This place should be ashamed that they charge women these fees for preventative care. They arent about helping women they are only about making money - charging insurance more than the national average and then making their patients pay. Women hurting women.
Horrible experience I hope no first time mom endures this ever. I am in very early pregnancy and I went due to being very high risk which I already know with family history etc so this was the only place with an open appointment so I went. I had the worst ultrasound tech Ive ever seen in my life and Ive done this a few times for various reasons im not going to mention. I was told by her what was showing on ultrasound without drs approval and was insanely rough moving super fast whole thing lasted 2 mins she doubted what I was saying regarding things on my cycle and my family history she was so rude and hateful not to mention waited so long then got in a room waited another 45 min after the ultrasound tech told me oh I dont see a baby I think you have lost it. Mind you this is my very first appointmentIve had NO bleeding or pain. So at this point Im in tears a np comes in 30 more min later says well you are probably in the process of a miscarriage we will do blood work I hope your ok. Urine test are still positive tho see you again in a few daysSo needless to say I have no answers positive urine test no pain normal pregnancy symptoms and inconsiderate people and this is my first ever real take on pregnancyIf I could give 0 starts I would and if I knew that ultrasound techs name Id post it hereHorrible people rude all around when I went to check our the couldnt even figure out how to schedule an appointment for a lab😡😡😡😡
The best doctors, ultrasound techs, and nurses I’ve ever come across. The whole establishment treats you like family and listens to your concerns, and execute a plan if needed in order to help you get better or to reassure you, this doctors office rock!!!!!!
Dr. West is hands down the best Dr. I have ever used. She is smart, respectful, listens to your concerns, and genuinely cares about her patients. If I moved I would drive to Asheville for her to continue to be my Dr.!
I can only share great things about Laurel OBGYN. And I have a ton of experience with every doctor, and most likely almost every nurse and ultrasound technician there. After two pregnancies, both of which offered a few complications, I am highly satisfied with the care I received from each doctor. All of the doctors are very different there In their communication styles And overall personalities. That said, over the course of the total Nearly 5 years I have been going there, I can say that every doctor is highly skilled, and really cares about their patients. Every nurse, Ultrasound technician, front desk staff and billing person are friendly and compassionate. Also, as a member of the LGBTQ community, my wife and I both found our care and treatment to be 100% respected and understood. I also had a complication that Brought me back to the hospital postpartum and I appreciated how Laurel OBGYN Communicated and took care of me while at Mission. I highly recommend Laurel OBGYN.
If I could give them no stars I would. 1000$ for genetic testing for a high risk pregnancy and THEY dictate this- not the insurance company. I guess if they like you you may get a discount because I was told a lot less (like 50$) but I left the practice and was hit with this (2 years later by the way because they cant get their billing act together)Why I left the practice- unnecessary encouraged inductions. They discuss your medical billing and medical business at a window facing the waiting room so now everyone gets to be involved. Receptionist is insanely rude. Dr. Gilmer is dishonest and not forward about costs. The practice actually purposely overcharges you and tells you “but if you overpay we will pay you back (hahaha cute). This is a money making machine- you are cared for like cattle. You will wait for and excessive (over 2 hours one time) amounts of time in a waiting room but better not be 30 seconds late. Do Yourself a favor and go anywhere else. Also notice- these guys only respond to the positive reviews which are looking to be less and less. That says a lot right there.
Dr. Rita Kaplan is the best OBGYN I’ve ever seen. I’ve had my share of bad experiences bouncing between offices with providers who don’t listen, or don’t consider the level of research I do for my own health as a woman with PCOS. From my very first appointment, Dr. Kaplan listened, had such empathy, and was able to help me think through all my options! What really made me write this glowing review though is how simple the patient portal is to use and communicate with her! I messaged her this morning about a specific course of treatment that I had done extensive research on, expecting her to push back (like other providers I’ve experienced) but instead, she responded within 30 minutes with the prescription I needed! I’ve never written a review of a healthcare provider because I’m typically so unimpressed and unheard. My experience with Laurel has been precisely the opposite. Thank you to the whole team for actually caring about your patients 🧡
I had a very good IUD placement experience here with Dr. Gilmer. The first time I had this placed was traumatizing for me. This time was nearly painless and they even did an ultrasound to make sure the placement was good before I left. I appreciated that because I work full-time and making any kind of appointment is usually inconvenient for me in some way.
I have spent my third pregnancy with Laurel OB-GYN and I just want to say I’m so happy I have been to two other OB practices and this one has won my heart. The two ladies at the front desk are very friendly, sweet & helpful. They have two ultrasound ladies who are amazing both very sweet and both explain everything they do I have loved my time in the ultrasound rooms. I had the pleasure of seeing doctors Veazey, Gilmer, Moore and FNP Brittany Harris & Mel Ramage all who were thoughtful nice treated me well. And my nurses two especially that I loved very much. The place doesn’t mind if you have to bring your children. It always smells so nice. 100/10. Thank for this place UPDATE : I delivered with doctor antono and he deserves a 100/10 as well very nice, good at his job I also just had my postpartum appointment and he answered all my questions about birth control listened to my concerns and showed me all options. Again great place I am thankful
The staff is extremely kind, considerate, and efficient at their job. The doctors empower you with the knowledge you need to take control of your health. After negative experiences with other OBGYNs I cant recommend this practice enough.
Not too long ago, I left a review and somehow it got deleted. My two first pregnancies ended in loss. My first, an ectopic. My second, a miscarriage. I was left having severe pain in my lower left side (where your ovary would be) once a month around ovulation. I assumed it would be ovulation pain, but this was the kind of pain that put me in the ER. My friend and mentor referred me to Dr. Veazey as the doctor I had at the time would not run any tests. I asked Dr. Veazey questions on what it could be: endometriosis, PCOS, etc., and her response? It was, “I think we might need to put you on birth control.” I mentioned to her that it was more important to me that I figured out what was wrong and asked her to run some tests. “Do you even know what endometriosis is?” She said. “It can’t be easily diagnosed. Let’s try birth control first.” I felt I was being told to “put a bandaid” over the situation, so I left and never returned. Just a few short months later, I found a Dr. at a different practice who listened, cared, and heard my story. He scheduled an HSG and found I have a blocked fallopian tube due to my ectopic. A blocked Fallopian tube. I wonder what the conversation would’ve been with Dr. Veazey if she thought of this as well with my history of an ectopic. This doctor at Laurel does not care about patient’s wellbeing. They are in it for the money. Don’t forget, doctors get paid BANK from pharmaceutical companies. Just because they / think / you need a medication, doesn’t mean you actually do.
I don’t recommend becoming a patient at Laurel OB/GYN. I had a new patient appointment in February 2024 with Dr. McArthur but had to go back in for a second appointment because the lab reported that they did not have enough tissue sample. I was told by Dr. McArthurs Nurse Hollie that there would be no charge to me or my insurance company for the second appointment but unfortunately they lied to me and they did submit the claim to my insurance company along with debiting my bank account for the co-pay without my permission. I contacted their office via telephone message and through their patient portal several times but to no avail. I will not be going back for sure because they are not trustworthy.
I have been a patient at Laurel for years. After receiving their wonderful care for the birth of my first child I want to leave a glowing review of Dr. Veazey, Dr. Moore and Dr. Gilmer. They made me feel heard throughout the process of pregnancy and childbirth, answered my many questions, and never made me feel rushed in appointments or to make decisions. I have always felt like I am in safe, capable hands with them.
I dont want to sound like a broken record as there are a lot of very good reviews already here for Laurel. However, I have to share because Ive just had such a good experience with this OBGYN office over the last 15 years. Most recently, I have been through prenatal care for a pregnancy after a miscarriage, so a LOT of appts over the last 2 years. Anyone who has been there knows the level of anxiety that comes with PAL (pregnancy after loss). I also endured birth trauma with my first (a doctor from another practice delivered my first...this isnt the place for that review). The doctors at Laurel are so caring and so understanding. Dr. Moore is my normal doctor and she is wonderful. She is reassuring and she listens. I had concerns regarding things that had happened in the past, and she added notes and alerts to my chart so that the other doctors and any staff who looked at my chart were aware. This made me feel like I was really being looked out for and taken care of. When it came time for my second delivery, the doctor (another doctor from the other practice Laurel shares call with) was well aware of the birth trauma from my first delivery thanks to Dr. Moores notes and he made sure it didnt happen again. With my most recent pregnancy, my last appt and induction were both scheduled with Dr. Veazey because Dr. Moore was away. I was nervous not being with my doctor that Im used to. However, Dr. Veazey made me incredibly comfortable. She spent extra time with me at my last appt talking me through things and calming my nerves, reassuring me that she was going to take care of me. Then when it came time to induce, she took a lot of time explaining some things that needed to be done in order to move my labor along. She also spent extra time introducing me to the doctor who was coming on shift since she was rotating off. Dr. Veazey helped me feel comfortable with this doctor I had never met (and it ended up being a great experience). She eased my fears and made sure I was taken care of.I have also seen Dr. Gilmer for a few appts throughout my pregnancies and she is always kind and caring. Though I dont know her as well, I still feel safe and secure with her. I have seen Dr. Kaplon only briefly in the hospital after my most recent delivery and she seems just as kind and caring as the others.I also have to say that the office staff and sonographers are kind and caring as well. This whole office is like one big hug. Im so thankful to have found them years ago. I definitely recommend this practice.
I have been a patient at Laurel OB/GYN for years. Dr. Moore delivered my first and Dr. Veazey delivered my second. Everyone I have met there has been absolutely wonderful, caring, and compassionate. I have felt understood and cared for at each visit. I have never felt rushed, the providers have answered my questions fully and without judgement. Dr. Moore and Dr. Veazey are the absolute best!
I was very impressed with my recent visit. Everyone I interacted with from the front desk until checkout was kind and helpful. As a new patient I arrived early and expected to wait quite a while before my appointment, but I was called back so quickly! The nurse was very friendly, courteous and put me at ease. Then Dr. Moore was great! I had been referred to her by a friend and it was definitely worth waiting for the appointment. She showed concern for me and really took time to explain things thoroughly. I usually dread GYN appointments but Dr. Moore and the thoughtful nurse made it much less intimidating. I would definitely recommend Laurel OBGYN!
Update below:I always had a good experience with this place until recently. After losing 3 pregnancies and doing ivf, I am finally pregnant.I called the office to ask what I needed to do. I was so happy and told the person who answered the call about this blessing. Brittany was dismissive and never congratulated me for my awesome news. I decided that maybe the is was policy. I then asked her how the process works that I am now pregnant and she was so rude and acting like I should already know the process. She then asked me why my ivf clinic hadn’t sent them my records. I explained again that this is all new to me and I was calling to know what I needed to do.We scheduled my first ob appointment and she told me that she didn’t know if the appointment would have an ultrasound. They needed to get the records back from my clinic. The day before my appointment, I called asking what I can expect from my first ob appointment. Brittany responded with “new patient intake”. I said I was already a patient. She said “new ob intake”. I said “okay but will they be doing an ultrasound?” She snipped at me and said “no”. My husband has an interview the same time as the appointment and wanted to know if there was a chance of an ultrasound so he could take off and be there. So I asked “is there any chance that the doctor may decide to do an ultrasound at this visit?”. Brittany snipped at me yet again said “like I said no we have no ultrasound appointments available”. How was I supposed to know that? At my ivf clinic they always did ultrasounds for every visit. Again this is all new for me and she is getting pissed when we ask questions. I ask if my husband needed to be there and she responded with “why would he”!Updated part:The day of this appointment, the doctor said he wanted to listen to the heartbeat. Since I was 11 weeks, he said he may not hear it on the sono and may need to do an ultrasound. I told him then that I was told there was 100% no ultrasound. He said sorry and took me back.I got the worse news of my life that my baby no longer had a heartbeat. I was devastated because my husband was not there with me. Again they promised me there was not going to be an ultrasound and they did one and I found out I lost it alone. We live 45 mins away so I waited ALONE in a room for an hour for my husband to arrive. I cried ALONE. I understand it is not their job to comfort me, but I wanted to explain that I would not have been alone if it wasn’t for the receptionists promises of me not getting an ultrasound done. My husband was heartbroken he wasn’t here for me but the receptionist made it seem like he wasn’t welcomed. We scheduled our dnc for that day and when I left the receptionist wouldn’t make eye contact. Obviously she didn’t apologize. The loss wasn’t her fault, but she lied to me when saying there was no way a possibility of an ultrasound. She made this day be worse not having someone to support me.Brittany clearly needs training on the procedure policies. She should have said “since you are not scheduled for an ultrasound, there is a possibility that the doctor may want to do one anyways”. That was all she had to say..I hate to give a low review because of one person who isn’t part of the care team, but she is our first interaction with laurel obgyn and it’s hard to get past first impressions.I confronted Brittany and told her how felt and what happened. She told me “I am sorry you feel That way” but she didn’t apologize for telling me that my husband couldn’t come and that there was no way that they would do an ultrasound. Brittany had no remourse. I just lost my baby who I loved so much and because of her I had to deal with the news by myself. She didn’t care. I don’t understand what type of person can’t show compassion when someone loses their pregnancy. I do not want to support this business with people like Brittanyworking the front desk. Why would I go to a place where they can’t show remourse, compassion and can’t treat people like a human being. No one from Laurel OB has apologized to me still.
Money hungry practice. Came in for a consult, they charged me for full blown exam... mind you I had NOTHING done.
My wife and I are both patients of this practice. My wife had called and canceled her appointment two years ago and today we called for an appointment and were told they terminated our patient/physician relationship due to no-showing an appointment. They told us we were sent a letter, and we were not. We also canceled, did not no-show.It is terrifying to think about women in the middle of their prenatal care having an emergency and then having their doctor fire them for something like missing a single appointment. We will both be taking our gynecological care elsewhere.
I felt so heard, respected and cared for here. Dr. Lindsay Veazey was extremely well prepared for my appointment having reviewed my prior test results, and listened to me without ever making me feel pressured to do one thing or another. She was very informative and took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly. The gynecologist can be a very uncomfortable place but I felt as comfortable as I could at my appointment. All of the staff from the moment I stepped into the office was very kind and welcoming.
Words cannot express how happy I am that I switched to this practice. I had a visit to the ER and then was able to get an appointment the next day to be seen. It was the first time I felt like I was heard and cared for by ever member of the staff. All of the ladies were so caring and sweet which made my experience so much better. I finally feel like I have a Dr that cares about my health and my well-being and gives me all the information in a personalized way, with all of my options explained and taken into consideration.
I absolutely love Dr. Lindsey Veazey! She’s so comfortable to talk to and she’s compassionate! She really makes you feel like she’s really concerned about getting to the bottom of whatever my concerns are! She has always greeted me with a hug coming and going in her presents, but my last visit I believe I received 3 hugs! She absolutely a wonderful Doctor! Glad she’s my Doctor!!
If I could give 0 stars I would this is the worst obgyn I have ever been to. Gaslighting and not listening to you is their specialty. I went for 6 years due to the fact I couldnt find another doctor. Do not go hear unless you want to be treated like you are nothing. Your health should be your doctors #1 concern and here it is a paycheck in their pocket.
Dr. Moore is so friendly and caring. I had breifly met her before my son was born and was hoping shed be the one delivering him. She did end up delivering him! I have requested her ever since for my regular appointments and always have a pleasant experience.
Dr. Ruchi Moore is not only an amazing OB/Gyn, she is a phenomenal person. I travel an hour and a half with an extremely busy schedule to see her for my yearly visits. She genuinely cares about my well-being. I am a healthy person with little to no medical issues so I am not very helpful in that regard, however the care and concern that she projects is by far the best from any doctor I have ever dealt with. I highly recommend her and her staff.
If you are a new patient with Laurel...do not show up late (even 3 minutes late) or they will cancel your appointment! Even if you left work early to be there, even if you hit traffic and your tardiness is not your fault. Its such a shame that I will not be using this provider as I have heard such great things, but to have driven through traffic and inconveniently left work early to be told to reschedule for another day when I was 3 minutes late was terribly disheartening.
I am a big fan of Dr. Veazey. She is kind, compassionate, thorough. She really listens and gets to know her patients. The nursing staff is also fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable. Front desk staff is so easy to interact with. All in all, the practice is great!
We were not seen today for arriving at 2:52 for a 2:50 appointment because they have a policy. No voicemail or email telling us to arrive early. We have to wait 2 months for the next availability.Who knows what other unwritten policies they have. I would find care elsewhere that values your time and needs.
This entire practice is welcoming and supportive of my every need. Ive been in Dr. Susan Wests care for many years, and as my life has changed, she has been available to me with expert care and concern. I cannot say enough about the Laurel OB/GYN Group as they care for patients and involve themselves in issues in our community that impact women and children. Bravo!
I cant say enough great things about this practice. Ive been seeing Dr. Veazey for the last 10 years and shes not only a wonderful doctor but a fantastic human. I feel heard and cared about when Im see. Ive referred several friends to Dr Veazey and they all adore her as much as I do.
Dr. West is an incredible GYN! She is professional, upbeat, pleasant, and always makes me feel at ease. She responds to all my questions without making me feel stupid and it is always a pleasure seeing her. The practice is nice, clean, and very prompt. I never have to wait very long for any of my visits.
My entire experience here was absolutely excellent. The practice was willing to work with me being a self pay patient which was helpful and removed some of the stress before the appointment even began. The ultrasound tech who performed my imaging was kind, empathetic, comforting, and very knowledgeable about her field. She was able to carefully explain every step of the way which was appreciated greatly. During my doctor visit, Dr. Kaplon was incredible. The doctor listened to everything I was saying, offered advice and options based upon evidence based practice, and allowed me to be able to participate comfortably in my care. I have never felt so heard in an MD visit. Dr. Kaplon took detailed notes and is clearly knowledgeable in her practice. The ability to have testing done, an immediate office visit to follow, and labs all in the same place was also a great benefit to this visit. My results from my labs also came back the next day and I was promptly notified of the results. I can not speak highly enough or reiterate enough how much I recommend this office and Dr. Kaplon.
Laurel is a wonderful practice. Dr. West was my provider for many years and then once I got pregnant I switched to Dr. Veazey. Dr. Moore is who delivered my daughter. I can’t say enough great things about each provider there. They are all wonderful and you are in great hands with them!
Scheduling was super easy, Brittany Harris was fantastic, great bedside manner, super thorough and thoughtful. Loved that I could get blood work done there without having to come back for a separate appointment.
I love this practice! They make me feel very cared for and seen. I previously had a poor pregnancy outcome and associated negative experiences with another practice. I feel confident in their care and thats saying more than can be imagined. They treat you like a whole person and not just a number.
Dr Moore is a deeply caring and skilled practitioner, I love coming here. I’ve been a patient for almost eight years. The doctors are wonderful and have always been generous with their time at my appointments. They cared for me through two pregnancies, and everyone has always treated me with care and respect.
I first came to Laurel OBGYN when I was 5 weeks pregnant due to a medical emergency. They provided exceptional care and love for me as a patient and friend. Every single doctor is helpful and knowledgeable. I was able to have a scary yet beautifully healthy delivery all because of the doctors! Would highly recommend for any woman as well first time moms!
I have had the best level of care I could have imagined with Laurel OBGYN. They not only are intelligent and helpful doctors, but their bedside manner and ability to make you feel truly cared for is on another level. Dr. Moore is my primary and she is far and beyond the best doctor I have interacted with at any point of my life. I have also seen all the other practitioners at this office, with Dr. Veasey helping a lot throughout my first pregnancy and Dr. Gilmer delivering my daughter. I couldn’t be happier with my experience and I am thrilled I get to go through my 2nd pregnancy with them by my side.
Dr. Susan West is amazing! She’s very patient and empathetic to your needs and concerns. She’s very relatable and friendly. Dr West does an awesome job explaining things in detail and answering ANY and ALL questions you may have. She takes her time during a visit and never makes you feel rushed. She’s aggressive with treatment if it’s called for, meaning she gets you taken care of quickly and with the utmost of care. I’ve never sent a message on the portal and not gotten an answer back in a quick, timely manner. The office staff is wonderful and friendly and Dr. Susan West was and is a God-send for me and my family 💕
I’m only giving Laurel a 5 star rating because of Dr. Veazey. The practice as a whole is pretty good but Dr. Veazey is really the difference maker. She is incredibly knowledgeable, caring, and personable. She genuinely cares for her patients and from the second she walks into the room, you can tell she is educated, informed, and cares about you and your baby. We are so incredibly thankful and fortunate to have worked under her care and her compassion for her patients is second to none. She is an incredible human and an even more incredible doctor. 10/10 would recommend Dr. Veazey.
TLDR just another case of the doctors WONT believe you. (There seem to be a lot of these especially with birth control.)I experience episodic bouts of urinary retention. I know that I’m retaining, because when I go, it doesn’t fully empty (SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE) and more urine gradually comes out. Additionally, once I’m able to actually empty my bladder the burning completely goes away, just utter relief.I told my doctor all of this this and more. So, after I peed in a cup to test for a UTI (Id already tested multiple times, and it was negative) and got an ultrasound, (after I told her I didn’t retain today) she concluded I’m simply dehydrated, and that dehydration can replicate the feeling of retention, but that I’m not ACTUALLY retaining!Well, while I KNEW what was happening to MY body, I humored her. I was well hydrated for a long period of time, and googled the amount of water I needed to be drinking daily. It ran clear any time I went. And I was still retaining. She did NOT believe me. She just invalidated my experience. I don’t see myself coming back here.
Dr Veazey is the best OB doctor Ive ever had. When i first moved to Asheville three years ago i chose a doctor based on location and that was a mistake. I stopped going to that last doctor when I was 14 weeks pregnant. Finally got tired of my needs not being cared about and feeling uncomfortable. Laurel OB is far from where i work and live but I saw all the great reviews for them so i decided to trust it. It was so easy to change doctors and get an appointment. The reception is very nice and the wait is not long, the waiting area is clean and feels comfortable. Dr Veazey explains a lot of things, more than my last doctors ever have (this is my fourth pregnancy so i have a lot of doctor office experience). She also didnt over explain in a way that felt like i was being talked down to either, it was refreshing. They definitely care about their patients needs and want you to feel comfortable and good with decisions. Im so glad I found this place.
I was visiting the Smoky Mountains from out of state and experienced a complication with my early pregnancy. Laurel OBGYN was able to see me the very next day due to a cancelled appointment. All of the staff, from the front desk staff, nurse, nurse practitioner, and doctor, were so kind and empathetic. My concerns were validated and addressed. The diagnosis I received was explained thoroughly, and I left feeling a lot better about my situation. I feel so lucky that Laurel OBGYN was there for me in my time of need, and I would highly recommend them!
Susan is incredible. She’s patient and listens to me and my concerns. She always provides in-depth feedback after I receive my tests and has really made the journey to becoming a mom a lot less stressful. I highly recommend her!
Dr. Veazey is amazing. She is very smart and takes the time to answer all your questions and concerns. I never feel rushed or that my concerns are being swept under the rug. Her bedside manner is amazing. I always feel like Im meeting with a highly educated best friend every time she walks into the room. She was by my side through my first pregnancy and through my miscarriage. She always seemed to share my excitement and my pain through both events and I could not express what an amazing doctor and person she truly is.
Unfortunately we were not able to bring our sweet baby into the world! Dr. Moore was the greatest person to help us through! She was so kind and understanding yet informative and honest about our situation. I will forever be thankful for her!!
New to the area and went here for my first pregnancy. Dr.Kaplon and Dr.Veazy are absolutely awesome. Love how they treat you, when they talk to you they explain things so well and really listen to you. They just added Melinda Ramage FNP and I’ve seen her once so far and I can’t say enough good things about the visit. Literally one visit and I would choose her to deliver my baby if i could lol. They way she introduced herself, talked to me and my husband and handled the visit was so great! Awesome addition for sure!
I have been a patient at Laurel OBGYN since I was 17 (so 13 years) and they are the best. Dr. Susan West is my primary but I have met them all at one point or another over the years and they are all wonderful. They always treat me like Im important and do their best to make me feel comfortable. Cant wait to have my first baby with them!!
I am a patient of Dr. Veazeys and she is absolutely amazing! She always takes the time to listen to your concerns, and answer any and all questions you may have. Ive never had to wait for more than 10 minutes to see her (with a scheduled appointment) and her staff is always friendly and helpful. I love LAUREL OBGYN and feel blessed to have found Dr. Veazey!! So happy she will be the one delivering my soon-to-be baby girl.
I was able to get an appointment quickly, and I didnt have to wait terribly long once I was there. I passed Dr. Moore in the hall on the way in, and she recognized me and greeted me, despite not having seen me in two years! Once she entered the room with me, her questions were thorough and she took the time to talk with me. She asked me about my mom, remembering how much time Id been spending working with her, and displayed very real sympathy when I told her my mom had died. Dr. Moore is also very knowledgeable about treatments for conditions that relate to geriatric Gyn matters, and if youre an elderly woman (any woman, Im sure!) seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate Gyn Dr, I highly recommend Dr. Moore!
Dr. Kaplon is an excellent doctor. She was my primary doctor for my second birth, which ended up being a C-section due to breech 10lb baby. My first birth was a homebirth the ended in a lot of trauma in the hospital. This made me an extra-needs patient. The entire pregnancy, she took extra time to be supportive and informative. I had a lot of fear from my previous birth experience yet she and the team at Laurel made me feel heard and confident that I was getting the best maternal care ever. She help me get hooked up with trauma experts at Mission Hospital. My birth experience was nothing short of excellent. She is young, smart, and very comfortable and used to working with you more alternative population here in Asheville.
Dr Susan West is a wonderful Dr. She is extremely personable and patient. Never hurries through my appointments, gives me her full attention, and makes me feel like I am her only patient. I have been going to Dr West for several years and will continue seeing her as my GYN.
Disappointed. I have spent my entire career in the maternal-fetal medical field, working as a nurse in postpartum, labor and delivery, and where I currently work in the NICU. I had high expectations when my husband and I finally conceived. Throughout my pregnancy I experienced severe anxiety that was only exacerbated by complications along the way to my delivery. I felt as though because I have diagnosed anxiety every time I was concerned regarding my health or my baby, my concerns were blamed on my anxiety. I even read in the physicians notes that were given to me, inaccurate claims regarding my personal feelings on my anxiety. I asked my doctors multiple times towards the end of my pregnancy for an ultrasound to ensure my baby was not too large, which could result in complications at delivery... My last scan was at 32 weeks... I was in labor for nearly 42 hours on pit with an epidural that was very inconsistent with pain control. After developing an infection from prolonged rupture of membranes at 9.5cms, they decided to call for a c/s. As you can imagine I was not only frustrated, but I was exhausted and terrified. I had a CRNA that explained to me she doesnt normally work there, I had 5 different nurses within the last 12 hours of my labor and after going through the c/s under general anesthesia because my spinal did NOT work placed by an anesthesiologist my baby came out.... large. The provider had the gall to say, Its a good thing you had the c/s because your baby is BIG! I was furious. I asked over and over again for a scan to check my babys size because I felt that he was massive, as did many of the nurses there. Every time the provider denied the scan. This was my biggest complaint since it obviously impacted my labor and delivery so much, but throughout my pregnancy I had multiple complications that were eye rolled at and turned out to be larger complications. Mental health should be acknowledged and respected like any other aspect of the body, however anxiety is not a culprit for every concern a patient has-- that needs to me fixed and addressed. To say the least I was beyond disappointed in my antenatal care and very hurt by the experience I so looked forward to all my life. I have put 110% into the moms and babies I have cared for and I felt let down when it came to my turn. I am grateful that my baby was healthy and that our situation was not worse, but healthcare goes beyond that; at least that is how I have always practiced as a nurse.
Ruchi Moore is amazing. Her bedside manner would make anyone comfortable. So glad someone told me about her… have sent family and friends to her. And when she isn’t available they have had great experiences with other docs there. If you’ve ever had a bad experience and thus hate going to this kind of doctor, try her. I promise- she’s that good.
Ruthi Moore is the best doctor I have ever had. She is very professional, warm, empathetic and just a lovely human being! I cant recommend her enough. So grateful that she is my OBGYN.
You can expect to have to call about 6 times before getting ahold of someone. No matter what extension you hit you will either get a voicemail or the call will drop. The front desk people are nice enough but seem like they hate their job. Would not recommend this doctor office overall.
I had my child back in February and all the ladies here were amazing. I got married last year and was new to the area. I chose them specifically because it was all women. Every visit I had was pleasant and everyone I saw was super nice and informative during every step of the way.
I have been with Dr. West since I was 17, so I basically have been with her for 19 yrs. She is my longest intimate relationship lol. I adore her, she is like family!!! We have gone through so many life experiences together. I have recommended her to all my friends & she gladly takes them on!! Office staff is amazing also!!! Love them all!!!!🤗🤗💗💗
I couldn’t be happier to have chosen Laurel obgyn for my first pregnancy and delivery. The entire staff there is friendly and attentive and I always felt they called back in a timely manner when I called with concerns. Dr. Kaplon was my primary and always answered questions with great knowledge and I felt very taken care of throughout my pregnancy and now postpartum. Dr. Veazy delivered my baby girl and she was so great in dealing with some complications I had, again I felt very safe and I’m good hands the whole time. The entire team there is wonderful and I am grateful to have found them!
Susan West, MD is one of the most knowledgeable, talented, skilled, caring, and compassionate OB/Gyns that I have ever had the pleasure of having as my physician. I have also worked with her professionally and know that she is always going to do what is in the best interest of her patients.
My experience with Dr. McArthur has been fantastic. I am a middle-aged women and have been seeing her for 10+ years for routine care and special surgical procedures. I have several medical issues and I can trust her to be aware of those when working on a treatment plan for me. She is kind and very professional. The staff at her office are always attentive and eager to provide good service. I would recommend to anyone!
I have been a patient for 24 years!! I love Dr West and her amazing staff. They are so caring and very professional. Dr West is extremely knowledgeable and always takes time to talk through options. I trust her in every way and It shows that she cares so much for others.
Had a rough start getting a hold of Laurel to schedule my initial appointment and they saw a post I made about it in a FB group. They directly reached out and were nothing but nice and communicative from that point on. After that initial hiccup I was wondering if I made the right decision choosing them but after my first OB appt with Dr Ruchi I knew I made right choice. They were friendly and informative. Highly recommend them and so happy I stuck with them. Cant wait for them to handle the delivery of my little one.
I had not been to a GYN in several years as the exams were painful after menopause. I was referred to Dr. West by my Primary Care Dr. and am so glad I followed thru and had a visit. She is very kind, gentle, thorough and explains everything so you understand. I would highly recommend Dr. West and will continue seeing her on a regular basis.
This is the first time in a long while that I went the doctors office and felt important. Dr. West did a thorough job. She was kind, she listened, she explained, she answered all my question. She made sure before I left I did not have any lingering questions. I had no feeling at anytime she was trying to get me out the office to get to the next patient. I left feeling important and valued. That is hard to come by in these days even before COVID I have not had an experience this good in a doctors office.
I have been coming to Laurel OBGYN for close to 7 years and highly recommend this practice. Dr. Susan West takes her time to listen to her patients. She remembers everything we talk about from previous years and does not rush through the exam.
I have always had a great experience here prior to today. My daughter has been in the hospital since Tuesday. And I was ten minutes late to my appointment. I’m losing my insurance soon due to losing my job. And no one cares or helped me at all.
Dr Moore is wonderful - thoughtful, funny, asks great questions, and so supportive. Truly one of my favorite providers I’ve ever seen, and I both work in healthcare and have had only excellent providers over the years. love this office!
I have been seeing Dr. SUSAN WEST for the last 20 yrs. She was the first Dr. I acquired after moving here. I am so happy I connected w/her. She is brilliant, professional, great personality, AND she is a surgeon too! You just never know when something serious can happen, and she can take care of it.I highly recomend her and the office staff...there is never any waiting.Dale White
Dr Ruchi Moore at Laurel OBGYN is the BEST gyno I have ever had! And at 56 with 3 now grown up kids and having lived around the country Ive had my share of doctors. Dr Moore is kind, professional and takes time to get to know her patients. The staff is friendly and helpful. All around A+++
I went here for an annual exam at the end of last year, which my insurance covers 100%. Unfortunately I didn’t know that asking questions would result in being charged TWICE. It’s extremely unfortunate and now when I book other appointments for my family at different doctors I specifically ask “if I have questions will I be billed twice for asking them?”. So if you go here and have questions be aware that you may receive an unexpected $200 bill. I was confused and called to follow up. When I received the voicemail from the office that confirmed “you were charged extra for the questions” I had to replay it a few times to be sure I heard correctly. I canceled my follow up appointments after that. My suggestion if you do make an appointment here is to confirm whether or not your specific questions can be answered in a one visit charge, or if you should expect to be charged double. Good luck!
I have been a patient of Dr. Veazeys for many, many years now. I have had nothing but great experiences with her. She is caring and so sweet. She has the best bedside manner you can find. You can really tell she cares about her patients. She always spends time answering the questions I have. I truly love her.
Dr. Susan West and the laurel staff is the best. She thoroughly listens to concerns and is fully present with me. She was able to forecast what may be uncomfortable and talked me through each step. This is a big difference from any other doctor I have been to. So thankful
Due to hormonal changes, I had my first treatment with Thermiva done with Dr. MacArthur just last week. She was caring and attentive during the procedure. I had amazing results on day 4 after two years of dailydiscomfort. This is great since results aren’t even expected until at least two weeks after first treatment OR after second treatment. I am over the moon and this practice has been a Godsend!
Susan West is the best obgyn around. She delivered both of my babies and saved me and my son when i hemorrhaged and had preeclampsia by an amazing emergency c section. She is currently helping me take care of another personal issue and did a great job as always. Great bedside manner as always. She makes it almost fun to come in, HAHA! Because we catch up and chat while shes checking me out for health issues. Best, Lou
I love Dr Moore. She was my OB for both my pregnancies. She is the very best. That being said I moved out of state, apparently had a “new patient” appt in April of 2017. Not sure why I would have had a new patient appt if I had been going there for years. I was then informed that I needed to pay 50$ for that appt and they would not allow me to be a patient there anymore. I am literally going to have to get reestablished with a new Gyno and can no longer go to the one I had been going to for years. Nice, great way to do business. I assume it has something to do with the fact that I had Medicaid way back when, I now have a private insurance plan. I recommend Dr Moore to everyone that asks about a gyno/obgyn both in person and online. I will continue to do so but will give them a disclaimer that the office is not loyal to patients that have been seen there for years. Planning on having another baby in the next few years and I’m actually devastated that I will not have Dr Moore during my pregnancy.
Dr. Veazey and the whole staff at Laurel OBGYN are top notch! I left my previous OBGYN very unsatisfied and asked my friends for recommendations. Dr. Veazey (specifically) at Laurel OBGYN came the most highly recommended. I was far from disappointed.Dr. Veazey is kind, takes her time to listen, and responds with care. I am able to have great conversations with her regarding my health. You never feel rushed and leave having all your questions answered, and more!I highly recommend both Dr. Veazey and Laurel OBGYN!
Every time I come to the office it feels like I’m visiting a friend. Dr Gilmer takes time to ask about my family and how I’ve been doing since my last visit. She is very kind, caring and knowledgeable. I highly recommend her and the entire Laurel practice.
Laurel OBGYN is the most impressive display of disregard, disrespect, and deceit I have ever witnessed from a medical practice. I had almost forgot to write this review until today, 12/22/18, because of a $40 charge when we havent been their patient since JULY. So I will just share a few of our most memorable experiences with this clinic.First and my most favorite they make you sign a waiver that states essentially you wont cuss them out for any reason. I didnt know why anybody would need such a waiver until we really got to know them. Then it made a whole lot of since.Secondly they ruined probably one of the biggest surprises a mother can have. We told them that we did not want to know the babies gender so we could have a reveal party instead of just a baby shower. The nurse pushed that we should know and was shocked by our request. The lab then sent it to us in an email along with our genetic screening results. One of the few fun moments we could even have with her difficult pregnancy, ruined. They cannot put in a proper medication order to save their life. Which I could almost forgive if they werent NASTY about everything. Have a billing question? they might hang up on you. Tell a doctor that the front desk people are rude and hang up on people? get told thats just how they areIf you raise enough cane with them not treating you fairly, extorting you, or not allowing you to have the medications (non-narcotic) keeping you alive. They will discharge you with no notice. Which by their level of care was somewhat of a blessing, still you need a doctor to get medicine. This place is a nightmare and at one point I was just satisfied to be away from them and not have to deal with them ever again. But like any good abusive relationship, they arent done with us. Also just for clarification, the bank has them authorized so we cannot stop them from taking any money and to dispute the charge with them we need to call them before the 26, which is impossible because they are closed for Christmas. Merry Christmas to you too Laurel!
Dr West has excellent bedside manner which I consider to go a long way in this day and age. She’s very thorough and caring during our visit and I feel confident in her abilities and experience as a OBGYN.
This office is very clean and simple. It is in a great location and easy to find. I was told about their COVID policy changes many times before the appointment. Dr. Gilmer is a fantastic OBGYN with a personality. She is very kind and has a great sense of humor. She cares.
Dr. Moore was very concerned, caring and reassuring regarding the possibility of my having uterine cancer with a h/o breast cancer x2. She is an expert in her field!! I would not hesitate to recommend this office to anyone- they would be in good hands!!
Dr. Gilmer and her assisting staff professional, Nikita, were absolutely terrific. As a new patient, they put my nerves to ease, and listened thoroughly to my history, concerns, and requests. Dr. Gilmer presented birth control options clearly and gave me full control of how to move forward. I have only the highest compliments, and trust for Laurel OBGYN.
I love this clinic and you will too. My doctor is Dr.Veazey. She is everything you would want in a doctor; knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate. I drove an hour and 45mins just to come to this clinic while pregnant with fibroids. Both My baby and I were taken care of well. Everyone in the clinic knew my name and my husbands. I felt at home here. Choose this clinic Moma, and request Dr.Veazey. You’ll be glad you did.
Dr. Ruchi Moore truly connects with her patients. She listens and responds, was personal and professional. I didn’t feel rushed which is so unusual with many doctors who overbook their schedules. I highly recommend Dr. Moore.
Dr. Lindsay Veazey is the best Doctor that I have had. From the moment she walks into the exam room, she is completely patient focused. She listens, answers questions in an understandable way, and follows up by phone or Patient Portal when necessary. She and her staff are timely in responding to emails. Exams arent the most pleasant part of Womens wellness, but Dr. Veazey is gentle and caring and does what she can to reduce discomfort. If a woman is looking for a great OB/GYN, I completely recommend Dr. Veazey.
Very wonderful staff and kind doctors. On average I wait no more than five minutes to be seen, and they make fast accommodations for health concern appointments. Doctor Moore is always very thorough and listens to every concern. Would recommend!
I have gone back and forth about writing a review, because Im typically not the sort of person who does this, but Laurel gave me the most disrespectful and negative medical experience Ive ever had: I am sharing this in the hopes that at least one person can be spared.First off, I was a 24 year old cis woman coming in for a yearly checkup. I arrived at the office and walked up to the front desk check in. The two folks were talking together and gave me a glance... but ignored me and kept talking. I stood there for another minute until I decided to say, hi! Im here for an appointment as if that was not obvious. They just looked at me, didnt say anything, then went back to talking and laughing. I sat down and they called me up a few moments later after they were done. I tried to shake it off and give them the benefit of the doubt but alas, the staff had more in store for me!I went to the exam room and as Im being checked in, the nurse quickly started sharing her judgement about folks who got pregnant who werent using birth control. She said, verbatim, I dont even have sympathy for anyone who gets pregnant when they arent using birth control. Like what were they even thinking? Imagine her face when I said, as politely as I could, that I do not take birth control for a myriad of reasons— the biggest one being that I have a long, documented history of it hurting my body! It was in the chart! They tried to brush it off afterwards. I thankfully have not experienced any sort of pregnancy, but I cannot imagine receiving that sense of judgement from folks who are supposed to be a part of your care team. Then, in comes Doctor Kaplon. She almost instantly started pushing hormonal birth control! Again, I have tried numerous types and brands of BC and all have been awful for my physical, mental and emotional health. I had to interrupt and tell her that while I appreciated the gist of what she was trying to do, I would remain firm in my decision. She didnt listen when I was sharing my history and my choices for my body: she only listened after I interrupted her.My pap smears have been abnormal since I started getting them but prior to this appointment, I had precancerous cells show up in a removed mole so my sensitivities were heightened around my pap that was likely to be abnormal again. She brushed off my concerns and insisted further testing wasnt necessary, that it was fine because I was young and had always had abnormal smears. What a way to ease concern!I shared that I wanted to do PT to help release some of the pain I carry in my pelvic area due to held trauma. When I said that I was feeling a bit anxious about it because Id gained a fair amount of weight in eating disorder recovery, she said it was okay because Id been able to maintain my exercise and wellness routines... HOWEVER. She decided to casually say, while checking out my arms, that I should look at toning up my arms while Im at physical therapy. Unreal. I had met this doctor not even 10 minutes prior, and shes commenting on my arms needing to be more toned? When talking about pelvic and sexual trauma? The bold flippancy, ignorance and entitlement to make that comment on my physical appearance is genuinely shocking. To top it all off, I get a notice three months later that the total for a regular pap smear with basic lab testing was going to be just shy of $1,000 out of pocket. $1k for a 40 minute visit. I get on a payment plan, being told that I could change the amount at anytime. When I called to change the amount, I was told that they were under new management and therefore could not change the payment plan; they were not willing to make an exception despite me being told otherwise 2 months prior. This was after they took a week to return my phone call. So! Here I am, still paying off a god-awful doctor visit almost a year after the fact. I expected— and deserved— so much more. I would highly recommend you find another OBGYN to take care of you because, unfortunately, the last thing you will get at Laurel is care.
I have been going to this practice for 7 years. I always loved it here and Dr.Moore was always great with me and very sweet. After my last visit, I will no longer be coming to this practice. Unfortunately, last visit, I felt very uncomfortable. I was being overly pushed by my doctor to get vaccinated for Covid-19 and they made me change my mask I was wearing. When I come to my OB/GYN, I do not expect my doctor to try to push their own agenda on me. I expect to be able to come in a safe place where a doctor and practice respects my medical choices I have made for my own body. My hope is that they also do this for pregnant women and mothers who come in there. My doctor came into my room and looked at me and told me my mask wasn’t up to her standards and immediately left the room and got me another mask before she would see me. Mind you, she got me a fabric mask, which the CDC already has said do not work. Much less no masks work against Covid-19. She explained I need to wear a mask that actually does something to protect myself and others. Yet, her mask she gave me doesn’t do that either.I then was asked if I was vaccinated for the Covid 19 vaccine. I told my Dr “no.” She then proceeded to tell me how I needed to be and how great it was. She said I should do it to protect myself and others. I kindly told her no again. Yet, if she actually reviewed the real science and medical results she would see it doesn’t do anything. Not to mention all the crazy side effects. Then she started going off on how everyone in Asheville has Covid right now. And started talking about where I live outside of town is worse because so many people are not vaccinated for Covid-19. But if she reviewed the REAL science she would see we are using faulty tests and that the false positive rate is way above 50% with these tests. Instead, she is following what she is told by the practices higher ups and is pushing the agenda they want her to. She then tried to guilt trip me saying she had to deliver too many still borns this year because of everything. I didn’t dare to ask if the women she delivered these babies from were or were not vaccinated. I honestly feel terrible for other women and pregnant women who may also be getting pressured at this practice into getting the vaccine. Which may lead to miscarriages , still borns, or infertility.During my visit, I felt extremely uncomfortable. I felt like my doctor didn’t respect my own medical decisions and was trying to push her and her practices agenda onto me. I don’t come to a doctors office to have this done to me. Nor ever in my life, have I had a doctor try to push me to get a vaccine so hard that isn’t needed nor had full scientific studies done. It sickens me that I can no longer trust or feel comfortable with my doctor after this experience.I will not be returning to this office in the future nor recommending it to any of my friends.
Dr. McLaughlin performed nothing short of a miracle, when she brought in our beautiful baby girl Isabel (12-28-21). I cannot thank you enough Dr. McLaughlin for your expert diligence and of course, your pleasantly sized and meticulous hands (My wife Rene is very thankful too). I just want you to know, Dr. McLaughlin, how much you mean to all 3 of us and hope that we will always be in your heart as well. We Love You!!! Thank YOU!!! God Bless You!!
The Doctors and staff at Laurel have been amazing and I am very pleased with going here during my pregnancy. They listen to your needs and concerns and make your experience worth while.
Dr Rucci Moore is awesome! The staff at Laurel ObGyn set the standard in Healthcare. I love them! If you need a great doctor with an amazing office staff you should give them a call. Youll be glad you did!
I am a longtime patient of Doctor Susan West .She is always very professional and thorough while making me always feel comfortable. Doctor West does not rush she takes her time answering questions , explaining and educating regarding ongoing issues.
I moved to the AVL area 1.5 years ago but between covid and a new baby, I hadnt had the chance to establish care with an OB until now. I tend to prefer getting care at places with midwives (like the womens birthing center) because I find it more wholistic but I was very happy with Dr. West and would highly recommend her! She was caring, attentive, kind, and knowledgable. I may even seek her care instead of that of a midwife if I get pregnant again! :)
Dr. West is really great! She took time to talk to me, get all the details as a new patient, and didn’t seem rushed. She’s also very understanding and has a warm disposition. I would also recommend her for someone looking for a HAES-friendly provider.
Dr. West is the best OB I have ever had. She performed surgery for me and was very informative and attentive the whole time. I feel so comfortable with her and appreciate not being rushed during our appointments.
On a recent wellness visit to Dr. Holly McArthur at Laurel OBGYN, I was treated courteously and professionally by doctor and staff. I received the kind of care that every woman deserves, and the kind of gynecological advice appropriate to my age. I was in and out of the office in a timely manner, yet did not feel rushed in any way. I only wish I could have known Dr. McArthur during my child-bearing years!
The Doctors in this practice are absolutely amazing! I would trust any one of them with my pregnancies!! I had a very traumatic birth and Dr Veazy saved my sons life!!! Thankful is not even a word right now!!! She is my hero!
Dr. Ruchi Moore was one of the best medical professionals I have been to. She was kind and warm yet efficient and knowledgeable. The nurses and reception staff were also extremely respectful and helpful.
Dr. Rucci Moore took over for my previous doctor, and I couldn’t have been happier. She is awesome!!! I can ask/tell her anything without judgements. This is a doctor who will listen to you and take time to get to know you. She also has a sense of humor and she will make you laugh, or she does me anyway. I wouldn’t trade her for anything. You must go see her. You will leave glad that you did!!
On March 13, the Smathers Family filed an additional suit against Dr. Summer Gilmer, who helped deliver their now 3-year-old son, and Laurel OB/GYN, which employs Gilmer. The plaintiffs accused Gilmer and Laurel of “gross negligence and reckless disregard for patient safety.”Zeb Smathers is the mayor of the Haywood County town of Canton.Failure to perform a C-section during the birth until nearly five hours after Gilmer originally requested it. They also take issue with the extent the defendants administered Pitocin to Ashely Smathers, which, is used to help induce or continue labor and control post-delivery bleeding. Both lawsuits state that the defendants should have known that too much Pitocin put patients like Ashley Smathers in danger of hemorrhaging and tearing or lacerating their cervix.“Defendants knew or should have known that prolonged periods of high dose Pitocin places patients such as Ashley at increased foreseeable potential risk for uterine atony, cervical tearing/laceration, and life-threatening hemorrhage,” each lawsuit reads. The plaintiffs assert that Gilmer and Laurel OB/GYN should have known about Mission’s short staffing, and that Gilmer “consciously and intentionally chose not to take steps necessary to contact, communicate with, request, demand, call for backup, and/or otherwise ensure the timely presence of an anesthesia provider in the labor and delivery unit to assist with Plaintiffs’ c-section operation.”The lawsuits claim that as a result of the defendants’ missteps, the child experienced “hypoxic brain damage,” which according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, occurs when the brain does not receive enough oxygen. The Smathers son also has cerebral palsy, which is “a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture,” according to the Center for Disease Control.
The office manager refused to grant me an appointment to be seen, calling me a no-show because the messages I left- formally canceling my appointment, apologizing, informing of an emergency, and asking to reschedule- were not received or recorded. Over and over, she called me a liar, because someone there did not pass along my messages. She also told me that, weeks later, there is no record that I called... so that I am a liar. I doubt they save any messages a month on... let alone ones that they never took note of--to then be patronizing and punitive toward a potential patient in need.I dont understand that absence of customer service, civility, fairness. Maybe because of my Hispanic surname; but I dont know why; I just know I didnt deserve to be refused medical treatment based on accusations of personal irresponsibility and mendacity that contradict who I am and my having taken pains to follow office protocol.
The providers were pleasant and seemed quite competent with all the general stuff. My concern is the dismissiveness from both the NP and and doctor of my choice not to take hormonal birth control. After explaining that I have a history of very painful periods, the response was so, you dont want to do anything about that? As if hormonal bc is the only way to do anything about my issue. After that, the entire conversation was over. No questions about why I might feel so strongly, my previous experience with such medications, or suggestions of other treatment/pain management options. Also, on top of the typical general cis-normativity of the whole affair, the follow-up summary email contains a little section devoted to BMI... It points out your BMI range and then tells you what category youre in. Apparently, Im overweight--just what someone who just detailed their history of mental illness to a trusted professional, wants to hear. At my appointment last year, I was obese (due, I think to a typo in my height, but still--nobody said anything to me about it! Why is that info being collected if its not being addressed with patients? Dont get me wrong, thats an entirely inappropriate conversation if unsolicited by the patient, but make it make sense!!).If youre triggered by (or just dont want to know) this kind of information, find another practice. Heres hoping we can all someday move past using BMI as a standard measure of health--we should all know better by now.
Absolutely awful experience with their office. My annual visit that is 100% covered by my insurance was coded incorrectly and I was incorrectly charged. My insurance company attempted contact to get them to correct the coding over a span of 3 months and I tried calling too, always with the response well check and get back to you and the office never did. Their customer service is awful and I do not recommend. Only trying to get money out of you.
Holly McArthur has been my GYN/OB provider for 22 years and counting. She is knowledgeable, kind and takes time with patients. She makes a point of asking them what they NEED from the visit. I am in the medical field and HIGHLY recommend her.
I moved here in 2006 and was recommended to Laurel OB/GYN and Dr. West. I have seen her since then. I have recommended her to several other people, all wich have been very satisfied with her. She alwasy takes her time to sit and talk and makes you feel like a person not a number. She is the type of doctor that if she saw you on the street she would know who you were. I would recommend her to any women.
Dr. Gilmer has been such a blessing to me! She is so kind, so caring, and has always taken a fair amount of time with me, never making me feel like she is in a hurry or that theres not time for my questions, concerns, etc. I am grateful for her and highly recommend her!
Dr. West took the time to really listen to me. She gave me helpful and constructive feedback. I feel that she is willing to take this journey with me to improve my health. I’m very grateful for my experience with her.
I had a great experience with Laurel, Nicka and Dr.Gilmer. They send multiple reminder emails, have a quick check in process, and the appointment overall goes quick and smooth. Looking forward to moving along in my journey with this office.
Hands down, Susan West at Laurel OBGYN is the best! I am so thankful to have found her. Everyone I have met at Laurel OBGYN has been so kind. They make you feel at home, cared for and heard.
Thankful for a wonderful caring professional! Dr Susan West is an excellent physician, she always listens and helps to work with you on any issues! So blessed to have a compassionate doctor!
I have been going to Laurel OB/GYN for almost ten years. At my most recent visit, in October 2016, the receptionist asked for a credit card number to keep on file, explaining any balance for services would be charged to my credit card. I explained that I do not use a credit card except for emergencies, that I have health insurance and that my annual exam is covered 100% by my insurance, so there was not even going to be a balance. I was informed that this is a new policy because so many people do not pay their medical bills and I would be allowed to see the doctor that day for my appointment, but if I did not provide a credit card to be kept on file, I would be be allowed to see a doctor in the future. I was told to discuss it with the doctor if I had any concerns. While in the exam room, I brought this up to Dr. Gilmer, that I felt insulted, as I have never had an outstanding bill and I did not feel this policy is fair to individuals that dont have credit cards. She just shrugged and states that too many people dont pay their bills and that is why they are doing it. One month later, in December, I received a group e-mail, explaining the implementation of the new policy, saying it was for patient ease, which is just simply not true. I understand the challenges in healthcare, but would prefer that my provider be part of a solution that works for everyone, not part of the problem. The medical care I received from Laurel Ob/GYN was pretty good, but not good enough to get me to stay and give them my credit card info for no good reason. I am moving my care to another practice.
Dr. Moore has treated me with kindness and respect from the first moment I met her. She is warm, competent and straightforward. I will continue to trust her with my care.
Doctor Moore is a very caring doctor. She listened to all my questions and concerns, which made me feel heard and understood. My procedure went flawlessly and I have recovered well!
Dr McArthur takes the time to listen to my concerns and provides practical medical advice. The office staff is compassionate and kind. The waiting room and exam rooms are clean. My visit was thorough and complete and finished in a timely manner.
Disappointing experience with this OB office. After receiving a difficult pre-natal diagnosis, I was expecting to see my regular MD. I know you have to meet other providers when you are going to OBGYN, however placing me with somebody new who was cold after receiving stressful news did not sit well with me. I had to inquire about receiving outside resources as it was neveroffered to me. During my time here, providers were inexplicably changed for my visits. For example, I was supposed to see a nurse midwife for nutritional counseling, they put me with somebody else who could not answer my questions. I found we were filled with a lot of fear here from deciding upon a flu vaccine to traveling outside the country while given false information from a nurse. When I decided to transfer from this office, no one asked why. As my husband said even a fast food restaurant would want to know why you decided not to come back!
Ive been going to Laurel for a few years and have not been impressed. Linda, the NP, is great, and thats the only reason I keep going there. Last year, though, the first person who came into the exam room was not familiar. She said she was a student, working with Linda. She was not wearing a name tag or any kind of identification. She did the standard questions, and then Linda came in. The student proceeded to examine me, and honestly, it was a weird exam. I got the impression that it was the first exam shed ever done. Ill just say, she was not skilled, and the exam was painful and resulted in several days of bleeding. I was never asked if I was ok with having a student in the room, let alone examining me. I admit, I didnt say anything, but I felt pretty powerless in the situation. Afterwards, it was really bothering me, so I called to speak with the office manager. I work in healthcare and I know that patients are supposed to give consent to have a student involved in their care. I told the manager what had happened, and she was not kind. She said, What do you want me to do about it? I told her I didnt want anyone else to have the same experience I did. I told her that they should be asking a patient before bringing a patient in the room. She didnt offer an apology or even really acknowledge my concern. I felt dismissed. The staff are not friendly. You kind of get the impression that either everyone is in a bad mood, or theyre annoyed with you. No one wears name tags of any kind, which I find weird, since every other medical office I visit does. I wouldnt recommend this practice to anyone. When Linda leaves or retires, Ill go somewhere else.
This was my first time ever at this practice. The staff was friendly and very attentive. I felt very comfortable with the provider and she addressed all of my concerns and listened to me . I was extremely pleased and have already recommended Dr. West to a friend of mine!
Love, love, love this practice. Dr. West is one of my favorite people of all time, as she is always kind, compassionate, and comforting. The office staff are pretty amazing as well. Highly recommend anyone looking for a good doc for your girly parts check her out.
Dr. West is fantastic!!! She is always easy to talk to. Dr. West is both kind and understanding. She is informative but never pushy. It is never fun going to the gynecologist but she makes it as comfortable as possible and always a pleasant experience. I love Dr. West!!!!
Prenatal care here will leave you wondering what you paid so much money for. You get five to ten minutes with a doctor every couple of weeks, and dont count on your appointment being with the doctor you sceduled it with. Not because that original doctor is at a delivery, but just because things have inexplicably changed. They will simply shrug and tell you you must have been mistaken. Ask for anything extra, like to check if your baby is breech at 35 weeks, and they may demand that you pre-pay hundreds of dollars for it. Gaslighting is one of many services offered at Laurel. If they dont agree with your intuition about your own body and baby, they will tell you its wrong rather than help you figure it out. So, in summary, if you want to pay $350 a month for the privilege of having a doctor ask if you have any questions, tell you youre wrong about your own body, refuse to discuss your concerns with you, and then hurry off to take a phone call, then Laurel is a great choice. The front desk staff is very sweet, though!
Dr. Kaplon delivered our little one in September and I couldnt be happier with how it went and the support she provided. She was attentive and self-assured, professional while still being warm, and really put me at ease in the run up to delivery, during delivery, and afterwards in follow-up. I would recommend her (and Laurel OB/GYN) to anyone in the Asheville area.
I felt rushed during my ultrasound. Very rushed. The lady was looking at her watch the whole time. The pictures she took were pretty blobish. I saw the baby and it was not blobish. She just took bad pics! Also, they have a 150 deposit for the first OB visit and they didnt tell me till the day before. No one else does this.. Not cool. Dr. Moore is awful!Wouldnt even write a doctors note for missing work when I was sick. Even though I told her I could get fired if I didnt have it.Update! They kicked me out after they saw this review wow lol wow wow .. how childish
My first time here. Dr Gilmer was wonderful! She listened to me and I genuinely could see she cared. Her medical student was just as kind and attentive. Would recommend to everyone!!!!!
The team at Laurel were extremely helpful as my wife and I progressed through pregnancy--ok, mostly my wife, but you have no idea how much food I had to pick off the ground the last 9 months!Where they really shined though was during the birth itself. Dr. Veazey, one of their 5 primary doctors, was our delivering doctor and she was insanely great. She coached Emily through a very difficult transition & pushing period and was selfless with her time & energy. After the pregnancy was over my wife said to me, I wish I could buy her a house. Well, at the very least wed like to share with the world what a good team they have at Laurel Ob-Gyn.
Everyone is super nice and helpful. They really take the time to listen and answer your questions and concerns. Dr. Moore is fabulous, and I love her sense of humor and how she approaches my care.
I would highly recommend this practice. We have only dealt with 2 Doctors mainly Dr. Kaplon & she is wonderful. She takes the time to explain whats going on & answers in language you can understand. Only had to wait 5- 10 minutes at most before being called back. The lady at check in needs some manners however the visit with the Dr was great.
Horrible experience at this practice. Scheduled me for an appointment which I waited months to get. Chose to try here because where my PCP had initially referred me had a wait over 6 months. Only after I had spent an hour filling out paperwork and reviewing it with the nurse did they tell me this was a consult only. This is their office policy to do no exam or testing on the first visit. I was told by numerous staff that I should have been forewarned, but I was not. I work in healthcare and gained nothing for this initial meet and greet that I could not have found on reputable web sources. All I did get was a wasted morning and $100 charge. When they tried to schedule the actual procedure, which the doctor assured me she would get scheduled quickly, she made no effort to assist with this process. I was left to plead with the scheduler, hoping to avoid more time off work to get my exam completed. When I asked to discuss insurance coverage and my issues with this, as I do not feel this visit was worthwhile or something I should pay for, another staff member was tasked with discussing this with me. She did not even introduce herself just brought me to her office, very apologetic but offering no solution. She simply focused on this being an office policy and I should have been made aware before I arrived. Yet another waste of my time. Afterwards, I called other OB/GYM offices and no others had this wasteful policy in place. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because the scheduler, Macie, was very kind and patient with me, even when I was frustrated and on the verge of tears. I will be canceling the appointment and going elsewhere to continue my testing and care. Not only was I not informed of this visit being only a consult, but the doctor seemed indifferent. She did not make me feel like continuing care with her would be a personalized and supportive experience.
Terrible experience. Front desk staff is rude and uncaring. I’ve been to many doctors offices due to my many complicated health issues and I am never going to set foot in this place again. I’d rather suffer with an issue than be treated the way I was. I wasted over an hour and a half of my life driving back and forth and I will not make that mistake again. It’s shameful.
I have been a patient here for many years! Have always had a great experience. I met all the doctors on rotation before I delivered and they were all SUPER nice! Dr. Kaplon delivered my baby & she was absolutely wonderful!
I have never been treated with so much disregard and disrespect for a person with disabilities from a doctors office than this place! I was completely turned away because I was 9 minutes late and within the boundaries of the time limits they give for patients before they make you accountable. I was after all a new patient coming from Etowah and drove an hour and fifteen minutes during rush hour at 1:00 in the afternoon for a 1:50 appointment. My GPS got me to the incorrect address and I called the office to inform them I was late and lost. I didnt say I was however, disabled and need a walker to walk. So at my arrival I was made to wait which was at 2:14. I was told I was late and couldnt be seen because I was new and I needed to re schedule! Now if you were me....how would you feel?
I was searching for a kind, non-judgmental, and understanding obgyn and I found that here. For the first time I wasnt pressured into anything and the appointment was quick and painless. It has been a struggle to find an obgyn that made me feel comfortable and at ease. I really appreciate the care and treatment I received here and strongly recommend it to anyone who is searching for an obgyn that gives you peace of mind.
I was making payments on my due balance and they called to tell me I had to pay in full or I would be sent to collections. They said I wasnt paying enough. I was literally paying what I could, they terminated me and sent me to collections. It took me 5 years, since my last child was born to actually come for a visit. The health system is awful for people that live paycheck to paycheck.
2013-2014 I was a patient here. I only give it one stars because of the doctor who was attending to me in Mission when I gave birth. Before that day, this was a 5 star place. They were attentive, kind, answered all of my questions. Dr. Veazy and Ruuchi were my favorites. This place treated me like family and it was an absolute joy coming here. Fast forward to the hospital, I get the one doctor I did not meet, Summer Gilmer. She was cold, impatient, and dissmisive. My treatment at Mission was nothing short of horrific. This was enough to turn me away. Aweful.
Dr. Moore is so lovely. She has the ability to make you feel cared for while conducting an efficient exam. Staff here are pleasant and supportive.
Dr. West really listens and is so knowledgeable! I have moved around a lot over the years (MD, DC, TN, AZ, NC, SC) and can honestly say of all the OBGYN Drs I have had (I have some really good ones) she is the best! She was recommended by another Dr., who also uses Dr. West.
I arrived for an appointment this morning as a new patient. The receptionist was outstandingly rude and abrasive. To a degree that I left and will look for another OB/GYN. Shockingly cold, especially when welcoming a new patient.
The staff seemed genuinely glad to see me and were very helpful in making a routine doctors visit a most pleasant experience. Dr. Gilmer was attentive and thorough. From start to finish, this was the best doctors visit I think Ive ever had.
Dr. Holly McArthur has been my doctor for at least 20 years. I cannot say enough about her...very sincere, spends time with me, etc. The staff goes above and beyond. They are friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.
Susan West is the Best Dr so professional and treats you like a Dr should. She cares about her patients and your not just a number she cares about her pts concerns and needs .
When I visited this place, it was awful. I wouldnt ever go back if you paid me. I saw Dr. West, she argued with my mom because i wouldnt get the gardisil shot and became very hateful with us. She did a std screening and didnt want to do further tests on me and dismissed me, I started another dr and turns out I have pcos on top of endometriosis and Im going for my second surgery within a year next month. She was very unprofessional.Replying to your response-Uncompliance of financial policy? I had insurance and left because its unprofessional to lecture your patients in a demeaning manner just because they choose not to have the Giardisil shot.
Always attentive, professional service from each staff member and Dr. Susan West. Dr. West is very personable and listens carefully to her patients to ensure the best medical services and advice are offered.
Dr. West is very knowledgeable and takes the time to fully discuss and concerns. She’s delivered my babies and remains as my Gynecologist. She’s willing to look at the whole feminine picture and listens without judgement.
I have been seeing Dr.Moore for several years. No matter how many questions I have she listens. She never makes me feel rushed in any way. Shes comforting, kind and encouraging at the same time. Shes like family to me.
Dr. Veazey is great, very thorough, and easy to talk to. She makes you feel comfortable. She asks about you as a person and genuinely cares. One of the best providers I have seen!
Dr. Kaplon sat down with both me and my husband to talk about fertility 101, answer any questions we had and put my mind at ease about conceiving in my mid-30s. She is calm and direct, and debunks assumptions only giving you the facts and helpful information.
If youre having twins an ultrasound will be billed twice for the same appointment. I requested a more flexible payment plan to ensure the practice could still be paid, unfortunately they have no other options.
The absolute worst. They do not trust their patients to make their own decisions about healthcare. They provide biased information in order to get you to do what they want. I went there for annuals and then when pregnant. There are lots of personal details here that I wont get into but me and baby both ended up having traumatic experiences. They only care about the bottom line and a paycheck. They are in the business of delivering babies and throwing prescriptions at you and do not take a holistic approach. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE HEALTH OF YOURSELF OR CHILD. Patients are just a number and statistic to them. For GYN care I recommend Dr. Vicki Scott at Asheville Gynecology and Wellness. Unfortunately she does not deliver babies anymore but can give you a recommendation.
I have been going to this gynecologist since I first became sexually active. Every few years I have an abnormal pap- I have HPV. Nothing ever comes of it, they do a biopsy and try to get me to do a LEEP procedure. Neither of which I want done to me. I have told them this and will sign a waiver or whatever. Not only is it uncomfortable, but from what I have experienced from past LEEPs it is unnecessary. Now, I have already have one gynecologist appointment this year in January. I have another scheduled in October. They told me that if I didnt schedule this appointment in a timely manner that they would not refill my birth control. Now, I understand- YES I need to go to the gynecologist. Really, they are trying to help. NEVER EVER tell a woman that she will not get her birth control filled. That is rude, unprofessional and honestly why I hate this place so much. I do. I like Dr McArthur, but the like completely vanishes when she tells me things like this. Not only does it make me completely mistrust my doctor, it does not want me to continue having the same doctor down at my vagina. I will be getting a new gynecologist. One that realizes that I am a busy human being, that sometimes has to reschedule her doctors appointments to suit her work schedule (well in advance mind you) so that I can continue surviving. When that happens I dont want to be threatened by you or anyone in any office.
Im new to Asheville and it took a while to find a doctor I believed I would feel comfortable with. I did all the pre paperwork i could online as requested but got the time wrong. It was 10:20 not 10:30. I arrived at 10:28sm and was told I would have to reschedule bc the pre paperwork takes 15min. Which was unfortunate. There was no understanding for a new patient at all.
Ive been going to Dr. Moore for several years and I think that she is a great doctor who always listens to me and gives me as much time as I need with her. She fully explains everything and has even done some research for a specific need that I had.
Dr. Veazey is amazing! She listens, suggests and asks lots of questions to fully understand your family life, medical condition, etc. All the women in my family see her because she is that good!
The best OBGYN in Asheville, NC. During my pregnancy they made me feel special and like family at every OB visit. I love each and every employee and Doctor at Laurel!!!
Dr West is a wonderful doctor. Very professional and knowledgeable but also personable. I’m very thankful to have found her and all the staff at Laurel OB GYN. It’s a great office all the way around.
Laurel is the best! I have been a patient for 21 years. They have helped me through infertility issues, pregnancy and now menopause. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!!
Excellent care! Dr. Moore is knowledgeable and by far the most well informed OBGYN I have ever had. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Dr Susan West listens to my concerns, analyzes my situation and advises accordingly. Although this may not be what I want to hear it is what I need to hear. Much appreciation for her professional advice and office staff.
I have been a patient of Dr. Susan West for more than 20 years. She is amazing! Dr. West delivered my daughter and now she is a patient of hers.
I called for a quote and they told me $1,500 without insurance, so I called several other places which quoted me around $300-400 for the same exact thing. PS the Yelp reviews are 1-star compared to these 5-star Google reviews - Id look at both to get the full picture.
Dr. Veazey is a wonderful, caring physician. She is so understanding and very easy to talk to. I highly recommend Dr. Veazey and the whole Laurel OB GYN practice.
Went in several times. Dr. Gilmer gave me almost zero aftercare instructions for my nexplanon implant. Not to mention the previous times Ive gone in with other medical problems and no one was able to give me a solution. The implant was the last straw. Will not be back.
What a wonderful practice! I had to bring my screaming two month old to my appointment and the entire staff was patient and kind. Thorough visit and Dr. Gilmer has been a blessing pre and post partum!
Dr. West is wonderful. She is invested in your wellbeing & really wants to help educate you about your body! I highly recommend her & the staff at Laurel!
The entire staff was amazing. And Susan West is my new favorite doctor! Thanks yall for making a not always fun experience, great 💕.
This was the ABSOLUTE best experience I have EVER had at the gyno!! Everyone was so kind and considerate. And!!! I got to hold a puppy at checkout! Amazing!!
Dr. West always takes her time and makes me feel like I am her sole patient for the day. Caring and informative. Always straightforward and compassionate.
Dr Gilmer is knowledgeable and kind. She shows competence and empathy. The perfect combination. I highly recommend her.The staff is also wonderful.
I absolutely love, Dr. Moore, shes an excellent and attentive doctor!! Laurel OBGYN is wonderfully accomodating, and really goes above and beyond.
I have never been so excited to see a doctor as I am to see Dr. Moore. She is genuine and even though she is squishing lady parts and checking important health metrics, it is also like catching up with a friend!
Laurel OBGYN’s all female staff are knowledgeable, compassionate, easy-going, and incredibly helpful professionals. Dr. Veazy is amazing!
Susan West is the best MD Ive ever had. She knows everything about her specialty. Friendly, helpful and open. Highly recommended.
Ive seen all the physicians here, and Dr. McArthur has been my primary for 11 years. I trust all of them completely. They are informative, warm, and highly capable.
Would highly recommend. I’ve had issues with past providers not having the best bedside manner but this was the opposite experience. I felt like I was listened to and taken seriously and that meant a lot to me.
Dr Veazey is the Best of the Best!!I Always feel like Im the only pt in the office when I see her!She really engages, listens, and educates!
Dr. Moore is the best! Shes been my doctor for 15 years and makes my annual exams feel like a visit with an old friend.
Well organized, COVID-safe office. Dr. Moore is a wonderful, caring, competent, non-judge mental and empathetic physician. Highly recommend!
Dr. Veazey is an awesome doctor. She really takes the time you want your doctor to take. She seems to listen and truly care. I would highly recommend.
Good at first and then some of the office staff were rude, very rude on numerous occasions. Hormones of pregnancy and post partum do not mix well with unexpected and unnecessary rudeness. I hate this because I really wanted to like it here, but I cant stay where Im made to feel unwelcome.
Dr. Moore truly cares about her patients. She always takes the time to listen to my needs and concerns.
Love Dr. Moore! Very personable and kind and has always made me feel comfortable and well informed at every appointment.
The experience in person wasn’t too bad but when it came to billing they are trying to charge me for a bill that my insurance told me they would cover I asked them multiple times to bill the insurance company they told me they would work on it if there was any issues they would contact me back never heard anything just kept getting emails saying I owe them money I contacted the insurance company and they said that they never got any bill from them.
Efficient, warm, caring -- Dr. Moore is special! Recommend her and the practice to anyone looking for good care and a terrific doctor.
Excellent staff, wonderful doctors! My wife has been a patient for over 15 years and has always loved this group! The staff is professional and kind! I would recommend this group!!
Dr. McArthur took the time to address my concerns and answer all my questions. I genuinely felt like she cares about her patients and wants to answer any questions that you have.
Why on earth does your office require a referral for traditional Medicare? I tried to schedule an appointment for my Mom and was told she could not be seen without a referral. Traditional Medicare does not require referrals.
I got an appointment right away. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And Dr. Moore is exceptional. I highly recommended Laurel Ob-Gyn.
For the first time in my adult life, I went to the doctor and felt like I was being heard. Dr. West is absolutely amazing! If I could give 10 stars, I would!
Ellen is the absolute 💯 best! Office staff answers calls well and returns to emails quickly. Excellent care is provided here.
They sent me to collection when I was not informed of a balance due. I had full medicaid and it should have covered this visit. Then I get a letter stating I couldnt be seen here anymore. I honestly hate this place.
